Statistical Significance on Risk-Adjusted Analyses
There is a 25-case minimum required to calculate Statistical Significance. If no asterisks appear in the rows of the SS column, either the outcome’s variance is not statistically significant or didn't meet the 25-case minimum.
Statistical Significance displays as dashes on Total lines. This is because Statistical Significance is calculated individually for each row and cannot be summed for a Total line.
On the Risk-Adjusted Analyses, Statistical Significance is identified at three confidence levels: 75%, 95%, and 99%, indicated by the number of asterisks in the SS column as follows:
- 1 asterisk = 75%
- 2 asterisks = 95%
- 3 asterisks = 99%
In addition, these asterisks are color-coded as follows:
- Green asterisks = the outcome’s variance is statistically better than expected
- Red asterisks = the outcome’s variance is statistically worse than expected
Risk Adjustment Methodology
- On 3M™ analyses, statistical significance is calculated with a Z-test.
- On CareScience analyses, statistical significance is calculated with a T-test.
