This analysis is intended to understand how health disparities impact patient Mortality and Readmission outcomes, as related to patient demographics.

There are 4 required prompts that you must select before running this analysis.

Required Prompts:

  • Time (1 year is selected by default.)
  • Inpatient/Outpatient (Inpatient is selected by default.)
  • Peer (You must choose at least five facilities in order for peer data to appear on the analysis.)

The demographics analyzed include:

  • Age Group

  • Gender

  • Race

  • Ethnicity

Each demographic chart includes:

  • Facility

  • {The Metric}

  • Facility Cases

  • Facility Observed

  • Peer Cases (this is based on your peer prompt selection)

  • Peer Observed (this is based on your peer prompt selection)

  • All Premier Hospitals Cases (this is defaulted and cannot be changed)

  • All Premier Hospitals Observed (this is defaulted and cannot be changed)`

Note: The first row of each chart is a "Total" row. However, be aware when looking at the Peer and All Premier Hospital columns, the value listed in the Total row does NOT represent the sum total all rows on the chart. It does represent the total peer cases, but because each row displays the specific values associated with the corresponding attributes, the values can be repeated each time the attribute appears on the chart.

For example, when looking at the Gender Analysis chart from above, we can see that the Peer value for the Male attribute is the same for Premier Medical Center and Premier University. This is because the same Peers for the Male attribute are applied to each facility, but the Male Peer value is not counted more than once in the total:

The Outcomes include:

  • All Facility Aggregated Race by Gender Readmission

  • All Facility Aggregated Race by Ethnicity Mortality

  • All Facility Aggregated Race by Ethnicity Readmission

  • All Facility Aggregated Race by Standard Age Grouping Mortality

  • All Facility Aggregated Race by Standard Age Grouping Readmission

Each Outcome graph includes:

  • Opportunity (charted with a gray bar)

  • O/E (charted with black diamonds)
