With this December release, we are pleased to introduce a new Health Equity Standard Analysis. The intention of this new analysis is to understand how health disparities impact patient Mortality and Readmission outcomes, when comparing patient demographics such as Age Group, Gender, Race, and Ethnicity. The new analysis will help identify opportunities for improvement across patient populations.
Additionally, The Joint Commission (TJC) has issued six new Elements of Performance to reduce health care disparities that are effective January 1, 2023. Several of the data elements that TJC suggests to be assessed are already in QualityAdvisor (i.e., age, gender, race and ethnicity). However, the completeness and accuracy of this data collection can vary greatly. Given the focus of this new Health Equity analysis on patient demographic data, the hope is that this new analysis will also improve the completeness and accuracy of this data collection, which in turn will benefit the new TJC assessment.
The report will show Facility and Peer Benchmark comparisons based on Age Group, Gender, Race, and Ethnicity, as well as a comparison to All Premier hospitals, for Mortality and Readmission outcomes only.
